St. George's Orthodox Church was founded by Russian immigrants from Ukraine and Belarus who settled in San Francisco's Russian Hill neighborhood in the mid-19th century. The original church was built in 1906 and completed in 1910. A new church was built in 1960 that is located on its original site. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Albania.
