Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral is an historic church in Kiev, Ukraine, belonging to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. It is the main cathedral of the Kiev Metropolia, or the Kiev Archeparchy, and the most important religious, cultural, educational and architecture center of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It also houses the Kiev Center of the Spiritual Culture, and congregation of saints, which is responsible for widespread evangelism and spiritual growth. The Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral was built in the 10th century, and was where the first official Church was established in the city of Kiev. The original wooden structure was damaged by fire several times and was eventually rebuilt in the 19th century in the subsequent Neoclassical style. The cathedral has been the site of numerous important events in the last millennium, ranging from the Baptism of Prince Vladimir I, the establishment of the Kiev Metropolia, and the coronation of many Ukrainian kings. Today, inside the cathedral, visitors can find a number of interesting items such as ancient Byzantine icons, a tombs of the Ukrainian saints, and several ancient manuscripts.
