St. Athanasius' Orthodox Church is a parish of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, located in Windham, New Hampshire, USA. The parish is dedicated to St. Athanasius of Alexandria, a 4th-century defender of the Orthodox faith, and a Doctor of the Church. The parish was founded in 1971 by a small community of Orthodox Christians, and is now under the spiritual guidance of its Rector, Father Elias Bitar. St. Athanasius' Orthodox Church was established in 1971. The founding members were a small group of faithful Orthodox Christians who began worshipping together in the basement of a church nearby. They were drawn together by a shared devotion to their faith and a need for services and fellowship not provided by other churches. In 1976, St. Athanasius' became a part of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, and has since become an active and vibrant part of the Orthodox community. The parish has remained small, but its members remain committed to living and teaching the Orthodox faith, and to providing a spiritual home for the growing number of Orthodox believers. St. Athanasius' Orthodox Church is the only Orthodox Church in Windham, New Hampshire. Its building was originally constructed in 1873 as a cabin in which its first pastor, the Rev. C. Aholt, lived.
