Kisha e Shën Nikollit Bzhetë (Church of St. Nicholas Bzhetë) is a Serbian Orthodox church located in the municipality of Bzhetë in Montenegro. The church was built at the end of the 18th century, and has been designated as a National Monument of Montenegro. It is one of the best churches in Albania which you must visit.

History:

The church was built in 1797 by the inhabitants of Bzhetë with contributions from neighboring regions, including the villages of Bardhanići, Vrbno, Trnovec, Zadrima, Kraljići and Beranci. The finances for the construction came from donations from the villagers and the then ruling prince Petar Petrović Njegoš, who contributed with 500 ducats. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Albania.

The church is an example of the Raška-style Orthodox architecture of the 18th century, with a typical nave in the form of a cross, the length of which dominates the structure. The church is adorned with frescoes of a unique style, created in 1804. The bell tower, a separate building, was finished in 1834.
