The Church has a central Byzantine style and was built by Ottoman Empire rulers. It remains one of the most important historic monuments in Tirana. Kisha e Ristozit was built during the time of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, who reigned from 1520 to 1526. The Church was partially destroyed during the Ottoman invasions of the 16th century but was reconstructed during the 18th century. During World War II, it was used to hold sermons for the nationalist movement. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Albania.
