History:

The Jam Minaret, located 40 kilometers away from the city of Herat in the Hari Rud River Valley in West Afghanistan, is one of the most magnificent and historically significant ancient monuments in the country. It was part of the larger Friday Mosque Complex built in 1210 CE by the Ghurids, a dynasty that took control of much of Central and South Asia starting in the 12th century.
