The Bagh-e Jahani is a park located in Herat, Afghanistan. The park was founded by Babur in the 16th century when he arrived in Afghanistan and founded the Mughal dynasty. It was used as a royal pleasure ground by subsequent Mughal rulers and the Heratic nobility. During its heyday, it was renowned for its fountains, gardens, fruit orchards, and pavilions. In the mid-1930s, it was remodeled by the Afghan King Nadir Shah, who built aqueducts and canals throughout the grounds. The park was also the site of the signing of the Herat Treaty, which signaled the end of Afghan-British hostilities, in 1919. Throughout the years, the park changed hands several times between different Afghan rulers. During the Soviet war, it was used as a military base and many of its buildings were destroyed.
