The Bambous Assembly of God began when Pastor Alfred Dary and his wife Magdeleine founded an Evangelical mission school at Bambous in 1951. The school was initially called Union des Ecoles Evangéliques (UEE). The main focus of the school was to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1957, the Bambous Assembly of God was officially registered with the Mauritian Government. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Mauritius.
