History:

The Hollywood Walk of Fame was created in 1958 as a tribute to the entertainment industry. Inspired by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Hollywood Historic Trust was formed to develop a plan for the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The first star was dedicated to Joanne Woodward in 1960. Since then, more than 2800 stars have been placed along 15 blocks on Hollywood Boulevard and three of adjacent streets. The stars represent a wide variety of talent, from actors, directors, writers, producers, musicians, composers, and even cartoon characters. Each star is attached to a named plaque honoring a particular celebrity. Other creative media such as motion pictures, television, radio, music, theater, and live performance have been added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Anyone can nominate a star for the Walk of Fame, but the nominee must meet certain criteria set by the Hollywood Historic Trust. Those criteria include at least five years of professional achievement in the entertainment field, either in motion pictures, television, recording, radio, live theatre, or live performance. Additionally, the nominee must have a widespread public recognition of their achievements. Once a nomination is accepted, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Honorary Committee reviews and approves the star. Once approved, the star is paid for by any number of individuals or entities, including the sponsoring studio, the celebrity, anonymous donors, and local businesses. It takes about two months from the time of the application to the installation of the star. During this time, the Hollywood Historic Trust works with the Noble Cast Company to produce the star, the terrazzo setters attach it to the cement, and the design is unveiled. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a testament to the impact that Hollywood has had on popular culture throughout the world. It is a tribute to the star’s hard work and dedication to the entertainment industry. You must visit one of these historical places in USA on your USA tour
