is a temple located in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is dedicated to Kōbō Daishi, the founder of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, and was founded in the Heian Period. It is located on the summit of Mount Yashima, and is one of the Eight Views of Sanuki. The temple is known for its grand heigaiden layout, which has been maintained since the Muromachi Period. It consists of the Hongū-sha Main Hall, Konkōzuta Buddha Hall, Agon-den Hall, Junishinbu Stairs, and a large pond stretching to the north. It is also an important historic site as the location of the Battle of Yashima. The temple is a popular pilgrimage site for the Kōyasan Shingon sect, and also attracts many tourists. Yashima-ji is a Buddhist temple in Japan that practices the Shingon sect of Buddhism and focuses on the worship of Dainichi Nyorai, the Cosmic Buddha. Switch to the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railway, bound for the Kotohira station (approx. 1 hour). From the station, take a free shuttle bus (approx. 10 minutes) or a taxi (approx. 20 minutes) to Yashima-ji. From Osaka: Take the Shinkansen to Okayama station (approx. 2 hours). Switch to the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railway, bound for the Kotohira station (approx. 1 hour). From the station, take a free shuttle bus (approx. 10 minutes) or a taxi (approx. 20 minutes) to Yashima-ji. By Car: Yashima-ji is located near the city of Takamatsu, located approximately 4 hours west of Tokyo via the Shinkansen.
