Worship Method:
Xuanzhong Temple of Huai'an, Jiangsu Province in China is a Buddhist temple that follows the Chan school (Zen) of Chinese Mahayana Buddhism. The worship of Xuanzhong Temple includes the traditional elements of the Zen Buddhist practices such as chanting sutras, prostrating to the Buddha, incense-lighting and bowing. Chanting Sutras: Visitors will generally be seated, facing the main shrine, and any monks, nuns, and laypersons present will each chant a sutra. Prostrating to the Buddha: After the sutras are chanted, visitors will prostrate three times toward the main shrine in order to show respect to the Buddha. Incense lighting: After prostrating, visitors may light a stick of incense that they have purchased from the temple and place it in the incense burner as an offering. Bowing: Visitors may then bow once to the main shrine three times. In addition to the worship practices mentioned above, visitors may also offer donations, circumambulate the shrine, or view the other shrines located throughout the grounds. Xuanzhong Temple is located in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province in southwestern China. The best way to reach the Temple is by car. Roads in the region are well-maintained and the journey from the nearest city takes less than two hours. The nearest airport is located in the city of Dali which can be reached via direct flights from major cities such as Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Shenzhen. Once in Dali, proceed to find a suitable car or bus to take you to the Temple. Alternatively, you can take a train from Guangzhou or Chengdu to Leshan, and then transfer to another train that will take you to Jinggezhuang Station.
