Worship at Al-Minya consists mainly of prayer and sacrifices of animals and birds. During the festival of Remenk, a traditional celebration of Horus and the divine kingship, a priest, known as the Kherepu, would travel to the temple of Horus and lead the people of the locality in prayers and offerings. The main attractions of the festival were musical performances and processions of boats. During the procession the priest and the people sang hymns of devotion to Horus and Ra, usually hymns from the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
