St. Brendan's Roman Catholic Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Basilica located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Cathedral was founded and dedicated to St. Brendan in 1888 and is one of the main features of the Belfast skyline. It is the oldest Roman Catholic Cathedral in Ireland.

History:
The foundation stone of the Cathedral was laid on 24 June 1884 by the then Bishop of Down and Connor, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Henry Mageean. The Cathedral was designed by the prominent architect, Numberas Hurt and it was consecrated on 8 October 1888. This architectural great of Belfast was also responsible for the design of many other important buildings in the city. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Ireland.

The Cathedral is dominated by a 214ft (65m) spire which rises from the transept. The church has a capacity of 2,500 with the nave being 311ft (95m) in length and it has a massive dome which measures 82ft (25m) in diameter. The interior of the Cathedral is a mix of classical motifs with a lot of intricately detailed mosaics.
Services:
The main services celebrated throughout the week include daily Masses on Mondays to Fridays at 9:15am and at 6:30pm. Mass on a Saturday is at 9:15am and there is an evening vigil at 6:30pm. Sunday services start at 10:00am and again at 6:30pm. Confessions are heard approximately 30 minutes before Sunday Mass. Other services are held throughout the year regularly, such as Vespers, Benediction, and Novenas.This beautiful church in Ireland has made a lot of significance in the past.
