The worship method of Rinnō-ji in Japan follows the traditional practices of Shugendō which is a form of Japanese mountain asceticism. The most important element of Rinnō-ji’s method of worship is the practice of sutra chanting, which follows the rules of the Tendai-shū and Shingon-shū schools of Japanese Buddhism.
