History:

Qasr BASHIR, a famous historical and architectural site located in Ireland, has a long and rich history, stretching back over 2000 years. The site is believed to have been constructed around 500 BC, according to a plaque located on the grounds of the site. It was originally built as a shrine to the god Lug, often referred to as the Celtic High King. During the 5th and 6th centuries AD, it became a popular spot for druids who would lead spiritual ceremonies at the site. Later, in the Medieval period, Qasr BASHIR served as a fortress and was the central seat of the Kings of Ireland. In the 18th century, the site was used as a quarry for limestone but later, in 1935, it was rediscovered by an Irish archaeologist, Dr. Michael J. O'Kelly. It was declared a National Monument the same year and has been a popular tourist destination since. The monument has also been featured in many films and literature and has been the site of several historic events including the eventual signing of the peace treaty that ended the Irish Civil War in 1927.
