Pyramid of Djedkare-Isesi at Saqqara In Egypt: History,Facts, & Services
Answer: Pyramid of Djedkare-Isesi at Saqqara is an ancient Egyptian pyramid located in the necropolis of Saqqara, Egypt. The pyramid was built during the 5th Dynasty, circa 2490 BCE, for the Pharaoh Djedkare-Isesi and measures roughly 65 meters (213 feet) in height. The four-sided pyramid is an example of a classic Egyptian step pyramid with a square base and sloping sides. The main burial chamber is located underground and contains a sarcophagus belonging to Djedkare-Isesi, along with a number of funerary objects. It is believed that the pyramid was originally covered in a limestone casing but, due to the erosion of the Pyramid's structure, most of the stone has since been removed. The pyramid is open for tourist visits and displays a number of antiquities found within it.
