The Peter the Great Statue is a monument dedicated to Tsar Peter I of Russia in Moscow, Russia. The original statue, designed by Russian sculptor and architect Ivan Martos, was located in front of the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg and erected in 1782. The statue was relocated to Moscow in the early 20th century, and a new, larger version was unveiled in Moscow in 1997. In 1836, a bronze version of the statue was commissioned by Tsar Nicholas I, with the backing of the Imperial Academy of Arts, as a testament to Peter's achievements.
