The house of the Counts Sheremetevs owned a small estate in Ostankino since the 17th century. It was bought by Peter the Great and given as a gift to his sister, Princess Natalya Petrovna of Toropets. It was rebuilt in the middle of the 18th century by Princess Natalya's son, Count Pyotr Borisovich Sheremetev. The palace was made out of the baroque style and was used as a summer residence for members of the Sheremetev family.
