The church was established in 1857 by a small group of early settlers from the Hill Country of central Texas. The first building was a log cabin and was used for several years until 1870 when it was replaced with a frame structure. The church serves primarily those in the rural areas of the county and has remained in the same location since its original establishment. The congregation was started in 1857 as a Missionary Baptist Church. At first, the church only served the people in the rural areas of the county. Around 1875, the church relocated to its present location in Kanto Plains. The original structure was a log cabin and was replaced by the current frame structure in 1870. Throughout the years, the church has undergone several renovations and additions to the existing building.
