Iglesia Real de Catorce is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Real de Catorce, located in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí. The church was built in 1750 by the Franciscan missionaries, and today it is the most characteristic building and landmark of the town. It is renowned for its architecture featuring a double bell-tower, a Baroque entrance gate and a unique blend of both Spanish Colonial and indigenous influences. Inside, the church’s interior is dominated by a large crucifix made of cactus wood, plus a 16th-century canvas painting depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ. Depending on the time of the year, the parish offers a range of services, such as traditional mass and popular religious celebrations, including the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, held in December.
