Giza Solar Boat Museum is a museum located in Giza, Egypt, located near the Great Pyramids of Giza. The museum houses a reconstructed boat from the c. 2500 BCE. The boat was discovered by accident in 1954 and is believed to have been built to carry the pharaoh on his journey to the afterlife. It was dismantled and then reconstructed in its own dedicated museum, the Giza Solar Boat Museum, which opened in the late 1980s. The boat itself is made entirely of wood, and is encased in a glass dome, giving it an eternal presence.
