Fayoum Pyramids, also known as the “Pyramids of Kafr El Gebel”, are archaeological and historic sites located in the city of Fayoum in Egypt. It consists of six major monuments – three pyramids and three small satellite pyramids – all of which date back to the Old Kingdom. There has been a great deal of speculation as to the exact origins of the Fayoum Pyramids. The Fayoum Pyramids’ design, however, differs from that of the typical Egyptian pyramid in that it consists of six smaller pyramids clustered around one main pyramid.
