Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Refugio In Mexico: History,Facts, & Services
Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Refugio is an old Spanish chapel that dates back to 1731 and is located in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. The chapel was built for the local faithful of the now-vanished Refugio Copper Mine and was restored in 1942 and 1972; however, it is still an excellent example of Spanish Colonial architecture. The chapel is now used as a spiritual retreat center, offering masses and retreats. It is also the site of the annual pilgrimage to Our Lady of Refuge, held on September 8.
