The Zambia Anglican Council was founded in 1966 as a representative body of Igreja Anglicana do Norte de África (ANGTANA). It is a fellowship of Anglican Churches in Zambia that act together to advance the mission of the Church and to support congregations and their ministries. The Council provides spiritual, financial and other resources to support and enhance the growth and development of each member church and the entire Anglican Church in Zambia. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Zambia.

The Council is a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion, and is committed to the shared mission of the whole Communion. It comprises 28 dioceses and 4 extra-diocesan areas, and covers 8 provinces of Zambia. Its members include more than 48,000 baptised members, and the annual budget is approximately US$1.3 million.

The Zambia Anglican Council offers a variety of services and resources, including theological education, youth ministry, social outreach, women's ministry, and HIV/AIDS resources. It also assists in the formation and maintenance of diocesan networks, and provides commending and support to members. The Council also hosts NABACONZA, a biannual training event which is held for the clergy, lay-leadership and non-professionals of the Church.
