Worship Method:

The Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) holds daily worship services at the Ramakrishna Mission Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and Cultural Centre in Kolkata. Worship services are held in accordance with Hindu practices, with the chanting of Vedic hymns (mangala-arati. shlokas), and singing of devotional songs (bhajans). Devotees of Ramakrishna Paramhansa often visit the temple and offer their respects to Swami Vivekananda, by bathing the Idol in milk and flowers. Prayers and homage are also offered to Gauri-Shankar, the Universal God of Brahman. During the morning worship service, which commences at 5:30 a.m., the Deity of Sri Ramakrishna is bathed and dressed, followed by offerings of fruits and flowers. Prayers are offered, followed by a homa (fire offering) asana (worship seat for the Deity). After chanting mantras and devotional songs in honor of Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Arati or waving of lamps is offered to the Deity.
