Worship Method:

Kali worship at Kali Mandir Kalimpong is believed to be more than 200 years old. Generally the Kali puja is performed for at least five days. The devotees begin with the preparation of a sandalwood platform on which the idol of the Goddess along with some of her consorts (Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesha, Hanuman) is installed and worshiped. This is followed by chanting of mantras, offering of flowers and fruits and burning of incense. The pooja ends with aarti and distribution of Prasad. In addition to regular poojas, Kali Mandir also celebrates various festivals all through the year. During these festivals, the temple is overcrowded with devotees from all over West Bengal. On Durga Puja, the temple worships the Goddess Durga, who is believed to be another form of Mother Goddess. Other important festivals such as Laxmi Puja, Shivratri, Amavasya etc are also observed here. On these days, special poojas are offered and there are special offerings that are made to the Goddess.
