Worship Method:

Ong Pagoda is a Chinese Mahayana Buddhist temple located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Worship at the temple follows the Chinese Mahayana Buddhist tradition and is organized around lectures and discussions, chanting of mantras and praying to images of the Buddha. Devotees also seek advice from the resident monks. At the beginning of each visit, worshippers bow three times to the main altar. Praying then takes place in front of a statue of Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. The main prayer consists of reciting the Heart Sutra. Worshippers then go through the other hallways of the temple, bowing and praying to the other statues of the Buddha in the various rooms. At the end of each visit, the worshippers participate in a group prayer and ask for guidance. They also may recite a long mantra dedicated to Guan Yin, her assistants and other holy figures.
