El Paseo Los Próceres (also known as Calle Los Próceres) is a main artery of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, running from the Plaza Venezuela east to the Avila National Park at the Tazón Valley. Spanning nearly five kilometres in length, it is the most important avenue of the Libertador Municipality. The history of El Paseo Los Próceres is closely tied to the country's struggle for independence from Spanish colonial rule. It is named after the leading figures of the revolutionary period, the Liberators: Simón Bolívar, Antonio José de Sucre, José Félix Ribas, Carlos Soublette, Francisco de Miranda, José Antonio Páez, among others.
