Bolívar Square is the main and most important plaza in Valencia, Carabobo State in Venezuela. It is located where four main streets meet: Nueva Arcadia, Simón Bolívar, Urdaneta and Boscán. The square carries the name of the Venezuelan Liberator Simon Bolívar, and is part of the historical center of the city. The square is located in the core of different colonial constructions, some of which still stand today. It is also known as Bolívar Park or Bolívar Garden. This space was built in the early 20th century due to the work of engineer Teodoro Petit. The area was primarily used for recreational activities and entertainment, and it became popular among citizens, politicians, and business owners. Every Sunday there would be political debates, arts & crafts fairs, and clown shows. In the 1970s the square was re-landscaped and refurbished. It was opened to business and leisure activities.
