1. Constructed in 2011, the Stanze di San Giovanni Paolo II were intended to commemorate the life of Karol Wojtyla, better known as Pope John Paul II. 2. Located in the Vatican City, the site features two distinct rooms – the Chapel of St. John Paul II and the Refectory of St. John Paul II – that span over 17,819 square feet of space. 3. The Chapel is located in the western wing of the Belvedere Courtyard and was designed by the architectural firm of Renzo Piano. The Refectory, which is located in the southern wing of the Belvedere Courtyard, was designed by Andrea Bruno.
