Golu Devata is one of the most important gods of Uttarakhand, worshipped by many communities living in Uttarakhand and the Garhwal region. The worship method of Golu is simple and straightforward. On the day of puja, all the family members gather around Golu, dressed in traditional clothing and singing prayers. Sweets and fruits are offered as prasad as a sign of devotion and honor. An offering of red chunni (scarf) and garland is made to the god. Aarti is performed with diya (lamps) which is lit in the middle of courtyard.
