History:

Sanssouci Palace is a Rococo-style estate located in Potsdam, Germany that was once owned by Frederick the Great, King of Prussia. The palace was commissioned by Frederick in 1745 and was completed five years later. The name Sanssouci comes from a combination of French words meaning "without worry" and is reflective of the owner's desire for a peaceful escape from court life during the turmoil of the Seven Years' War.
