Marienburg Castle is a castle located in the Elbe Valley in Lower Saxony, Germany. The original castle was built in 1270 as a hill castle with two defense towers and a palas. It was constructed as a royal residence by Prince-Archbishop John I of Hildesheim, who had recently acquired the surrounding area.
