Holy Trinity, Taunton is a Grade I listed building, located in the centre of the town of Taunton in Somerset, England. It is the parish church of Taunton and the seat of the Diocese of Bath and Wells. The church is of Norman origin, though much of its structure was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. It boasts a number of interesting features, including a 15th century font, a magnificent window from the late 15th century, and a restored organ from 1828.
It is one of the best churches in England which you must visit.
History:
The original church of Holy Trinity, Taunton dates back to the 11th century, when a small Norman church was founded here. It was enlarged in 1191, and the nave and aisles were added in the 13th century. In the 15th century, the tower, spire and clerestory were added, and the pulpit was installed. During the 17th and 18th centuries, much of the medieval fabric was replaced or re-pointed, and extensive restoration and rebuilding programs were carried out. A new organ was purchased in 1828, replacing the original medieval instrument. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.

Holy Trinity, Taunton is the site of the martyrdom of Thomas Weston, a priest who was hanged here in 1589. The church also serves as the burial ground of the Earls of Egmont, and houses a number of monuments to prominent figures throughout history.
