History:

Europa-Park is an amusement park in Rust, Germany that was founded in 1975 by the Mack family, who continue to run it. It is Germany's largest theme park and one of the most popular theme parks in Europe. The park was founded when Franz Mack, the patriarch of the Mack clan, opened the first attraction in 1975—a fairytale themed walkthrough attraction called Miller's Dinkelsbuhl. After this, the park continued to grow in popularity and size. By 1979, Europa-Park had become such a success that the family was able to invest in a larger, more advanced park—now known as the main entrance. This park soon became a major tourist attraction in southern Germany. In the following decades, the Mack family invested in new attractions and themes at Europa-Park. These included the European themed areas (Silver Star and Blue Fire Megacoaster), a children’s area (Rulantica), and a hotel (The Hotel Colosseo). Today, Europa-Park is one of the top amusement parks in the world with over 5 million visitors per year. Unlike some other parks, Europa-Park has managed to stay family owned and operated while constantly introducing new and exciting attractions.
