The Museum of Roman Civilization (Museo della Civiltà Romana) is an interactive museum in Rome dedicated to the culture, art, architecture, and daily life of the Roman Empire. The museum is curated by the Museo dell'Ara Pacis. It is located in Rome’s EUR suburb, which was originally planned by Mussolini in the 1930s to reflect the eternal Rome. The Museum of Roman Civilization allows visitors to explore the grandeur and details of Roman life through reconstruction models, multimedia, and archaeological finds. The museum’s main attraction is the “Civiltà Romana” (Roman Civilization) exhibition. This collection takes the visitor on a journey through time, from the civilization of the 8th century B.C. through to the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century A.D. It includes numerous artifacts and models as well as interactive audiovisuals to help bring the era to life. Other collections showcase the influence of Roman art and sculpture, the Roman military, and the city’s topography. The Museum of Roman Civilization also serves as a cultural center, hosting lectures, book presentations, and temporary exhibitions.
