Soltan Ghori Mausoleum is located near the city of Konye-Urgench, in Turkmenistan. It is located in the northern part of the small town of Jibik and is dedicated to the 11th-century ruler of the Khorezm Kingdom, Sultan Sanjar. The mausoleum marks the site of the remains of the famous 11th-century Muslim hero, and its distinctive, gently sloping roof above four columns gives it a unique silhouette. The history of the mausoleum is believed to begin in the 11th century, when Sultan Sanjar, a powerful ruler of the Khorezm dynasty, chose to be buried at the site rather than the nearby burial ground of his ancestors.
