St. Helena Church of Zaghouan In Tunisia is a historic Italian Roman Catholic church located in the city of Zaghouan, Tunisia. It was built at the end of the 19th century by the Italian Religious Order of the Augustinians of the Assumption and consecrated on October 21, 1900. It is dedicated to St. Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine. The church is built in the Romanesque style and includes a bell tower and a crown of thorns. The interior is decorated with frescoes and marble altars. It is one of the best churches in Tunisia which you must visit.

History:

St. Helena Church of Zaghouan In Tunisia was constructed in the late 19th century when Zaghouan was an Italian protectorate. The construction of the church was led by the Italian Religious Order of the Augustinians of the Assumption who established a monastery at the site. The church was consecrated in 1900 and has remained an important religious site in Zaghouan ever since. During the Tunisian revolution it was the site of several political meetings. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Tunisia.
