Ma'ufanga is a village located on the Fanga'uta Lagoon in the Tongatapu, Tonga. It is located at approximately 21°02' S, 175°14' W. Ma’ufanga means “ocean” in Tongan. It is home to some of the country’s oldest monuments, ranging from historical sites to ancient fishtraps. It is one of the best churches in Tonga which you must visit.

Ma’ufanga has a rich history, with archaeological evidence that dates back to 500 BC. It was an important port of call for trading vessels from the Far East as well as the occasional foreign vessel.
