Temple de Calvaire is an historic church located in Aneho in the Republic of Togo. It is said to have been founded by the Portuguese in 1625 and rebuilt in 1777. The church is inextricably linked to the slave trade which was rampant in this part of West Africa during the 16th and 17th centuries. History:

 The foundation of the church dates back to 1625, when missionaries of the Society of Jesus, who were of Portuguese origin, settled in the Aneho region. Their mission was to spread Christianity and to protect the rights of the local population. The original structure of the temple was destroyed in a severe storm in 1777, and it was reconstructed with the help of the local people.
