In 1940, Father Gérard Jean-Marie Toval founded Eglise GJT Siège in Togo, making it the first Roman Catholic parish in the Atakora region of Togo. During its long history, the church has become the spiritual home and center of a vibrant Christian community in the area. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Togo.
