St. Benedict's Church - Waikkala in Srilanka is a popular Roman Catholic church located in the Waikkala area of Srilanka. It is one of the oldest churches in Srilanka and is believed to have been built in the early 16th or 17th century. The church was initially known as the Church of St. Benedict's Chapel and is still popularly referred to by that name. The church is one of six churches in Waikkala and is well known for its tall bell tower and the bright blue and white façade.
History
The church was built in the early 16th century by the Portuguese, and is believed to be the earliest Catholic church in Srilanka. According to an inscription recorded on a stone in the church, it was restored in 1645 by Captain John Alvares. In the 18th century, the church was renovated and expanded by the Dutch and the British.

The church is noted for its tall limestone walls, its bell tower, bright blue and white façade, and large wooden interior. The main building measures around 20,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 500 people.
