Worship Method:

Nallur Sivan Temple in Sri Lanka follows a particular pattern when it comes to worship. The worship of the temple is done in a Pooja Mandiram, a small two-storey shrine, made of stone and adorned with sculptures of gods and goddesses. The priests, known as Murugan Pujaris, perform the traditional ritual of pooja, which begins with offering an elaborate array of flowers, followed by chanting of mantras and offering of incense and camphor. Before the Pooja, the Murugan Pujaris clean the shrine and its surrounding areas with water. Then the Pujaris will perform the abhisheka or shower of blessings on the Lord Sivan. The Pujaris will then offer worship to the Lord using saffron and turmeric or kumkuma and spread around the shrine. After this, the Pujaris will perform arathi or waving of the lit camphor and then sing bhajans in praise of the Lord. After the pooja is offered, devotees will make their offerings and pray to the Lord, offering their devotion and seeking his blessings. After the pooja, Prasad, usually the holy ash or vibhuti, is distributed among the devotees. The temple also offers special archanas or prayers that are performed by priests on behalf of devotees with special requests. This most visited temple in SriLanka
