Holy Cross Church was built by a French missionary called Father Julian Poullani in 1838 and dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is the oldest existing church building in Kalutara district. In 1906, the church was renovated and the present day structure was built. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Srilanka.
