Dutch Reformed Church In Srilanka: History,Facts, & Services

The Dutch Reformed Church in Sri Lanka (DRCSL) is a denomination within the Global Reformed Church family. It is the largest reformed denomination in Sri Lanka with about 40,000 members. The DRCSL was established in 1781 by Dutch missionaries and is primarily composed of Sri Lankan people of Dutch and other European descent. It is one of the best churches in Srilanka which you must visit.

History:

 The DRCSL was established in Colombo in 1781 by Dutch missionaries. In the 19th century, the DRCSL remained very active in missionary work and evangelism, spreading its influence to other parts of Sri Lanka. As a result of their work, the number of followers began to grow and many new churches were established. After Sri Lanka achieved its independence in 1948, the DRCSL started to cooperate with other denominations in Sri Lanka in both theological and ecumenical dialogues. The DRCSL currently has several churches located throughout the country. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Srilanka.
