The primary deity of the temple is Murugan, otherwise known as the God of War. The presiding deity of the temple is Veerarathnar, who is said to have earned the title of ‘Veera’ for his bravery during a battle. Worship at the temple takes the form of traditional offerings, including flowers, fruits, and other items, and daily pooja (devotional prayers and offerings). Devotees pay their respects to Murugan and his associates by presenting garlands, lighting lamps, and making an offering of fruit, milk, and water.
