Worship Method:
The worship method of the Gnanavairavar Temple of Sirupiddy, Kopay, Sri Lanka is based on traditional Hindu methods. This includes chanting mantras, offering prayers and performing puja (rituals). The main deity is the god Gnanavairavar. Offerings may include flowers, fruits, incense, coconut, rice, ghee, dhoopam, milk, sesame, and sugar. The devotees also make offerings of money in order to seek blessings from the deity. The priest at the temple will usually recite a special prayer dedicated to Gnanavairavar, and then sprinkle a holy water over the devotees. Generally, the temple is open daily from 7am to 1pm, and on special occasions the doors remains open up to 7pm in the evening. During religious ceremonies, devotees often enter the temple and circumambulate around the deity statue three times, with palms joined. The Gnanavairavar Temple is located in Sirupiddy, Kopay, Sri Lanka, and can be reached by car. From Colombo, take the A3 Expressway in the direction of Kurunegala. Leave this road at the exit for Kalpitiya, and continue on the A3 for 25 km. Turn left onto Kandy Road, and drive for 8 km before turning left onto Paddy Road.
