This annual festival is held in the month of Magha, corresponding to late January or early February. Traditionally, this festival begins with a large procession, which includes young men and women carrying pots filled with oil, flowers, and other offerings. Once the procession arrives at the temple, the devotees offer these items to Lord Shiva, and then the puja rituals begin. As part of the puja, devotees chant mantras of the gods, chant hymns, and perform aarti. After this is completed, the priests then preside over the lighting of the traditional oil lamp (puja diya).
