St. Luke's Church Merawala, in Sri Lanka, is an ancient Anglican church which is over 200 years old. The Church is a part of the historic Church of England mission in the Matara District of Sri Lanka. It is believed to have been built in 1817 and was consecrated in 1819 by Bishop Daniel Wilson, the first Bishop of Calcutta. The structure of the church is Palladian style with a porch, belfry and chancel. The interior of the church contains an intricately carved alter, original stained glass windows, and hand-crafted stone flooring. The church is also noted for its Sangayanikka decor, which is a unique form of wall painting that has become an iconic representation of Sri Lankan Anglican churches. The church offers various services, such as, Morning and Evening Prayer, Sunday school, and regular community events.
