The Basilica of Esztergom is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Esztergom, Hungary. It is dedicated to Saint Adalbert of Hungary, who was the first bishop of Esztergom and the founder of the Hungarian Catholic Church. It is one of the oldest churches in Hungary and was founded by the beginning of the 11th century. The basilica is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Monuments in Esztergom.

History:
The first church on the site was a wooden building built around 997 CE. It was replaced in 1031 with a stone basilica dedicated to Saint Adalbert. The basilica was rebuilt in the Romanesque style in the 13th century, and in the mid-14th century, a Gothic chapel was added to the east end of the building. The building was painted and decorated in 1791, and part of the decoarations remain today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Slovakia.
